Cwmffrwdoer 3 - PILCS 3 (Cwmffrwdoer win 5-4 on penalties)

PILCS and Cwmffrwdoer produced an entralling Gwent Amateur Cup tie which went all the way to a penalty shoot out before the "Doer" qualified for the quarter-finals.

The hosts were out to avenge their County Cup defeat and made a perfect start in the game, scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes. The first came after just three minutes when the ball was squared the ball to Aaron Palfery in the box and he produced a good finish low and hard into the bottom corner.

The lead doubled as a result of some poor defending, allowing the "Doer" striker Aaron Palfrey to ease through into the the box and slot the ball into the opposite corner. PILCS again fought back and the deficit was reduced on 15 minutes when Darren Phillips produced some clever footwork and poked the return ball past Graig Williams.

The equaliser came on 35 minutes from the head of the inform Richie Jerimiah.

With the score at 2-2 against the run of play Cwmffrwdoer got there noses in front on 60 minutes from Matthew Jackson who played through on goal and neatly rounded Mackerness to score.

PILCS refused to die, and equalised again on 70 minutes, after a foul on substitute Daniel Ronan in the box. Lea Grimes netted the spot kick.

Cwmffrwdoer had the better of the chances in extra time, but a combination of good fortune and brilliant goalkeeping denied them a fourth.

And so onto penalties:

A great save from Craig Williams the "Doer" keeper from captain Mike James, started the penalties off, both clubs then scored, leaving the penalty score at the end of Cwmffrwdoer 5, PILCS 4.
