Cwmffrwdoer  2 v 1 Cefn Forest

Doer again started the match well, but were not playing with a team approach, everything started and finished with long balls, unsuitable for the Doer to get the ball down and to start to play good football. Doer had a corner, ball put in by Matthew Jackson, onto the head of Kevin Lewis who headed back towards the near post where Ben Walker stuck out his left foot to put the ball into the net past the Cefn Forest keeper after about 15 minutes. Doer pushed forward and from a series of good passing moves Ben Walker hit the ball from about 5 yards onto the crossbar, and a few minutes later from another corner Kevin Lewis threw himself at Matthew Jackson's cross and hit the right hand upright. The ball was pushed down the Doer left side, Lee Jones picked up the ball thinking the ball had gone out and passed it to Kyle King who picked up the ball, the referee then awarded Cefn Forest a penalty for picking the ball up in the penalty box. Cefn forest midfield took the penalty but Craig Williams saved with his feet. The referee apoloized afterwards for his mistake, the freekick should have been out on the touchline. Cefn Forest played some good football but could not get past the Doer defensive, with Kevin Lewis and Mike Osland playing some good football defending the Doer goalmouth. The start of second half was the same as the last part of the first with Doer not playing well but defending well against Cefn Forest attacks. The match continued going this way until Cefn Forest received a corner some 35 minutes in the second half, the ball put over Craig Williams arms onto the foot of Cefn Forest centre back who hit the ball into the net giving a score of 1 - 1. Doer kicked off and within 3 minutes a ball again by Matthew Jackson was put into the box, where Chris Townsend passed to Kristian Howells who hit the ball passed the keeper 2 - 1. The last few minutes Doer held onto the ball to finish the game 2 - 1.

Govilon  5 v 3 Cwmffrwdoer

Doer again started the game the better side, but letting Govilon in on goal to many times in the first half. The ball was pushed into the box, Gareth Priest took the ball forward and was brough down, giving the Doer a penalty. Jamie Roch took the penalty, but the Govilon Keeper saved it pushing the ball away for a corner. After about 30 minutes Govilon had a corner, the ball came towards the back post, goalkeeper Craig Wiliams went up the for the ball but landed on Captain Gareth Priest's right knee putting him off the field and out of the game. About 35 minutes later Doer pushed forward passing the Lee Jones in the Govilon box, he shot into the left side of the goal past the keeper giving Doer a 0 - 1 lead, 5 minutes later Govilon were awarded a free kick just outside the box, in the centre of midfield. The shot hit the back of Doer's goal, bringing it back to 1 - 1. The second half started with Govilon putting on the pressure on the Doer's defence, midfield seemed to disappear and they scored a second and third goals 3 - 1. Doer seem to rally a little and the ball fell to Matthew Jackson who put it past the keeper 3 - 2. Govilon again put alot of pressure on the back four and scored a couple more goals 5 - 2. About 40 minutes in the second half Doer managed the win a corner, it was put into the Govilon box and Mike Osland got his foot to it giving it a 5 - 3 scoreline. The match continued for the last 5 minutes, with both sides having attemps on goal.

Cwmffrwdoer  3 v 1  Spencer Youth & Boys

Doer started the game again the better side, putting the away side under good pressure, pushing the ball all around the field, again good one touch football and good movement from all around the pitch and all players. Following any early corner, put over by Matthew Jackson Kevin Lewis rose up high in the centre of the box and put a  resounding header into the back of the net giving the score as 1 - 0. After about 20 minutes Spencer started to control the game, but every player defended well all around the field, giving Spencer very little chances of attacking the home goal. After 35 minutes Doer had another corner, this time Kristian Howells rose up and headed into the net to put the score 2 - 0. A few more opportunities for Doer but they could not put it past the away keeper in the first half. Again the second half, the away side started to play but Doer kept them under control. Jamie Hosking came on for injured Dave Jenkins after about 50 minutes. Spencer pressurised  Doer and were awarded a free kick just out side the box on the right hand side. They shot over the wall and Craig Williams into the top corner of the net 2 - 1. Ben Walker was then brought on and within 2 minutes out paced the defence and scored in the right hand corner of the net 3 - 1.

Man of the match: Kevin Lewis

Mardy  0 v 2  Cwmffrwdoer

A fine start to the season for the club, an away match and coming away with the three points:

Doer started the game in impressive form, putting the home side under extreme pressure with some good one touch football, and running at the opposition back four. Some good chances came and went. Then a ball from Andrew Davies put Matthew Jackson through the opposition back four just in side inside Mardy's half. Matthew ran towards the keeper with the defnders closing him down, and put the ball to his left past the keeper to put the ball into the left corner of the net to put the score 0 - 1. For most of the first half Doer put pressure on the home side but could not score a second goal. The second half started and Mardy threw everything at the Doer, hitting the cross bar on two occasions, Mike Osland and Kevin Lewis keeping everything out with some excellent tackles and headers by both centre backs. Mardy put Doer under extreme pressure during the second half with only occasionally letting the Doer go into the mardy half. Ben Waker was the final subsitute to be brought on the field with about ten minutes left. A few mintes before the end of the game Ben followed up on a pass forward, outpacing the defenders and ran directly towards the keeper and passed the ball into the net bring the score to 0 - 2. The last few minutes passed without any further pressure form Mardy.

Man of the match: Mike Osland

Friendly: Saturday 1st August 2009

Bishops Cleeve  0 - 1 Cwmffrwdoer

The latest friendly match was against Bishops Cleeve, just outside of Cheltenham. Cwmffrwdoer started the game well with most of the play from both sides was in the centre of the park. After 25 minutes not a shot on either goal had been attempted. Defence and attack from both side seemed to to cancel each other out, with the midfield players from Doer cancelling out all of Bishops Cleeves attemps at attacking the Doer's defence. The odd corner from both sides did not cause any problems and the Doer's defence played exceptionally well when called upon. Doer's attacking options pushed forward , but could not break down the opposition defence, so at half time it was 0 - 0. The game continued the same way until about 30 minutes into the second half when the Doer won a corner. The corner was taken and Lee Price rose at the rear post to head in the goal. Bishops Cleeve then put Doer under pressure for the last 15 minutes, but everyone held firm and the match finished with a deserved victory for the Doer. Chris Townsend and committee men where very happy with the way the team played and look forward to the next friendly.

Cwmffrwdoer 5 v 3 Newport Whiteheads

1st training game of the season was a good  run out for all the boys who turned up. Cwmffrwdoer started the game the better side and after 15 minutes Jamie Roch received the ball on the left hand side just inside his own half, ran around the right back and went towards goal, just inside the box he shot for goal and scored past the keeper. Following on some lovely football continued to flow from Doer's players but could not score. The second goal came from an attack down the right side of the field Matthew Jackson turned on the spot in the penalty box and hit the ball with his left foot into the top corner of the net, making it 2 - 0. A mistake in midfield left Newport Whiteheads free in the penalty box who scored  there first goal. Within two minutes Doer had broken away and following a passing move Gareth Priest shot past the keeper to make it three one. Leaving the 1st half 3 - 1 to Cwmffrwdoer Sports Club.  Four minutes into the second half Doer went four one up following a cross form Jamie Roch out wide on the right hand side to Gareth Priest who headed in to to top left hand corner of the goals. The fifth goal was very similar to the fourth, Matthew Jackson had the ball in the centre of midfield, passed it out the left hand side to Jamie Roch who crossed the ball into the box for Gareth Priest to score his hatrick. As the game began to change due the amount of substitutes being used, Whiteheads scored two more goals, leaving the final score 5 - 3. This was a good start for the season and Chris Townsend was delighted with the first game and performaces from Doer's players.
